La manda

Abstract: This podcast features the Spanglish reading of “La manda,” which reflects upon faith and ritual practices from a personal and transnational perspective. From dance, to fairs, to nun school, this story focuses on the difference in religious perspective held by two American siblings raised in Mexico. The narrative voice in this piece provides a unique perspective broadening dialogue(s) on Mexican American identity.

Resumen: Este podcast incluye la lectura en espánglish del cuento “La manda” que hace reflexión acerca de la fe y los rituales desde una perspectiva personal y transnacional. Incorporando el baile, las fiestas, las ferias y hasta el colegio de monjas, este cuento se enfoca en la diferencia de perspectiva religiosa por parte de dos hermanos estadounidenses criados en México. La voz narrativa provee una perspectiva innovadora que ensancha el dialogo en torno a la identidad mexicano-americana / chicana.
