My Brother the Mexican

Abstract: This podcast features the Spanglish reading of “My Brother the Mexican,” which follows the relationship of two American siblings raised in Mexico. From country music, to cowboy boots and bull fights, the plot ranges from adolescence to early adult life emphasizing cultural differences and gender dynamics. The narrative voice provides a unique perspective broadening dialogue(s) on Mexican American identity.

Resumen: Este podcast incluye la lectura en espánglish del cuento “Mi hermano el mexicano” que sigue la relación de dos hermanos estadounidenses criados en México. Entre corridos, botas vaqueras y corridas de toros, la trama abarca desde la adolescencia hasta la vida adulta, enfatizando las diferencias culturales y de dinámica de género entre sí. La voz narrativa provee una perspectiva innovadora que ensancha el dialogo en torno a la identidad Mexicano-americana / Chicana.
