Doce horas: A Family Border Tale

Abstract: This podcast features the Spanglish reading of “Doce horas: A Family Border Tale,” which comically narrates a family’s adventure crossing the U.S.-Mexico border by car a few days after New Year’s. The story deals with identity negotiation, biculturalism and bilingualism in a non-conventional American family raised in Mexico. The narrative voice provides a unique perspective broadening dialogue(s) on Mexican American identity.

Resumen: Este podcast incluye la lectura en espánglish del cuento “Doce horas: Un cuento familiar fronterizo” que cómicamente narra las aventuras de una familia al cruzar la frontera de México / EE.UU. unos días después del año nuevo. El cuento trata la negociación de la identidad dual, la biculturalidad y el bilingüismo en una familia estadounidense poco convencional criada en México. La voz narrativa provee una perspectiva innovadora que ensancha el dialogo en torno a la identidad Mexicano-americana / Chicana.
